Technology for Your Nightstand

For most people, the nightstand right next to your bed has long been the collection place for everything that you need to have easy access to in the morning. You likely put your watch, your glasses, your keys or anything else that might be important to you right there with your bedside lamp and maybe your book. In today’s world, your nightstand might also become a jumbled space for all of your devices and technology as you pile up all of the devices you may need to charge overnight, like your smartphone, your tablet, your e-reader, your Bluetooth device or anything else you may need to plug in. Manufacturers have seen what has become of the standard nightstand and are now looking for more ways to incorporate your technology into your nightstand to make it less cluttered and more productive.

  • Charging Stations – This is a concept that has been in use for a few years now and is becoming more popular as people have more things to charge. Instead of having to find room for 4 or 5 different plugs to plug into, having charging pads, bins or stations where you can put all of your devices neatly overnight can make things much easier for you. It gives you a place to get the charging you need and stores everything safely for you so you do not have to worry about something falling off the nightstand overnight.
  • Alarm Clocks – Alarm clocks today are also making greater use of your smartphone, Mp3 player or tablet so that you not only have a place to store and charge your devices overnight but the device can act as your alarm clock as well. These clocks are basically docking stations for your device that you can set to look just like your typical alarm clock so you can set your alarm on your device and wake up to music or your alarm each morning and get your device charged properly.
  • Power Furniture – More furniture manufacturers are incorporating the need for charging and device use into the design of furniture today and the nightstand is no exception. Many today actually have USB plugs and charging stations built right into the furniture itself. You can also get lamps that provide you with extra USB ports to allow you for charging of devices easier right next to your bed. Some may even have technology incorporated into them where apps on your device can be used to control the lamp to turn on and off at particular times for you.

Technology continues to grow into nearly every facet and area of life today and its availability into your bedroom and nightstand is no different. The notion behind all of it is to try to make life easier and more convenient for you so you can have easier access and more time to do the things you need to do each day. It is likely that you will see even further advancements made down the road as technology continues to evolve and develop.
