Saying I Do – Technology and Weddings Today

Perhaps one of the real true rituals and traditions that existed for thousands of years without much change has to do with marriage. The ceremony itself, no matter where it is around the world or what culture you may be a part of, has remained pretty much the same as it was for the millions of people before you. The one difference that does exist now today, however, is that technology is starting to become more and more prevalent when it comes to planning and executing this very special event and day. More and more as the wedding industry grows it is easy to see where technology has become an integral part of the wedding process.

The Planning has Changed

Perhaps the one area where technology has had the greatest influence on weddings today is its use when it comes to planning the big day. People are much busier than they have ever been before and many newly-engaged couples find that they simply do not have the time needed to sit down and plan out the minute details that couples seemed to find time for in the past. There are so many details to go over in terms of flowers, dresses, tuxedoes, venues, music, food, table settings and more that keeping it all organized seems impossible. Not everyone has the extra money to go out and spend on a wedding planner service to handle the details for them, but technology has come up with many applications today fit for computers and mobile devices that allow you to do planning on the fly so it is much easier to find the time to cater to details.

Social Media has Changed Weddings

The advent of social media has really had a big influence on the planning and execution of weddings today. People are much more likely to make use of outlets such as Facebook and Twitter to invite and plan weddings, interact with family and friends regarding different aspects of the wedding and use outlets such as Pinterest or Instagram in order to get ideas regarding things they want to use or see in their own weddings and to get feedback from others on what they think. In this case, technology has made weddings more of an interactive event not just for the couple involved but for everyone in their lives as all can participate on some level in what goes on at the wedding, right down to even live broadcasts of a wedding over the Internet.

Weddings and technology are just starting to come together more and more and it is likely that you will see much more technology integrated into the wedding industry in the coming years as planning services make greater use of all that is available to them. With the use of all of the technology available today couples will be able to plan everything about their wedding down to the smallest detail with greater ease and less panic and share their adventure along the way with all that they know.
