With the hectic lifestyle that so many people seem to lead today it is no wonder that technology has begun to play a more important role in everyone’s life today. People have come to rely on technology to provide them with all kinds of information and reminders in order to get through the day. The technology today works to provide you with everything you need from reminders about morning meetings, setting schedules, making reservations, monitoring your exercise and more so that you can get through the day with everything you need done. With all of this new nudging technology available (as it is often referred to), one has to wonder if all of this is really good for you or has it become detrimental to your life?

The Positives of Nudging Technology

Nudging technology can be a great thing for you to help keep you on track when you lead a very busy lifestyle. The technology that you can have as part of your smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop or other device can provide you with all kinds of information. Not only can the applications and software be helpful in allowing you to keep to your schedule and provide you with the reminders you need so you can get things done at the appropriate time but these applications can also be used to help you monitor everything from your health and diet to the time you spend online. You can get data on everything from your sleep habits to your calorie intake to how much water you have drunk that day, allowing you to keep close tabs on your daily behavior, which can help you to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The Negatives of Nudging Technology

Of course there can be a downside to having access to this type of technology all of the time as well. You may become too reliant on all of this information you are receiving all of the time to the point where you may become obsessive about receiving the data. Many people find themselves being consumed by all of this information that they get about themselves regularly to the point where they may even be getting more than what they really need, causing them to become much more anxious about how they are leading their lives. They also may come to find that they “need” this information all of the time, causing them to use this technology much more than what really be necessary to the point where it becomes a dominant factor in their life over aspects.

Nudging technology certainly has its place in society and can play an important role in helping you in many ways as long as it continues to be used responsibly. You do not want it to become too important to how you maintain your life so that you need to use it for everything but you can certainly use it to help you keep organized and get yourself on a healthier track as long as you remain in control of it.
