AQA Psychology A Level Help - picture of meMy names Saj Devshi and I self-studied AQA A Level Psychology between 2012-2013 and I know exactly how stressful studying for these exams can be, believe me.

I thought at the young age of 28 I would try and study a subject for a bit of fun and to test how good my mind still was. It took a lot of work but I was able to achieve an A* grade having sat each paper as a private candidate at a local private centre here in Leicester. These were my results for each paper:

Psya1: 83ums (A) Psya2: 90ums (A) Psya3: 100ums (A*) Psya4: 100ums (A*)

Final grade: A* scoring 373/400 ums.

Oh and heres my certificate too – I’ve blanked out some privacy details for protection:

AQA Psychology A Level Full marks

How Did I Self-Teach And Get One Of The Highest Marks In The UK?

I scored two A’s for AS with less than 3 months revision (no teachers, working full-time 40hrs per week) and 100% in Psya3 (A*) and 100% In Psya4 (A*) - I did this by spending months writing model essay answers books and revision notes for all 4 papers I was studying; answers that I felt would guarantee me full marks with every point concise and able to score marks – Zero Waffle.

Thousands of students have benefitted !

(and counting!) Purely On Word Of Mouth.

No marketing – no big budget or press releases – Students and teachers have been messaging me since I released resources and my A* model essay answers and gradually I have released my other topics over time. My Books have my A* model essays and revision notes I made for every possible question for their respective topics – The same answers that got me two A’s for AS and 100% in both Psya3 and Psya4 and an A* grade overall.

AQA Psychology Psya3 & Psya4 Help

A complete thorough guide on AQA Psychology Psya3 and Psya4 revision – be warned – Its long! (40 minutes long! read on below before you watch this!)

As you can see I improved from my first exams scoring 100% in A2 and thats down to two main things;

  • A good revision technique that I mastered
  • Secondly creating great model essay answers that I felt would get me in the top bands.

The topics I chose to study when doing my A level Psychology exams were Psya3 Aggression, Psya3 Relationships and Psya3 Sleep & Bio Rhythms. For Paper 4 I chose Psya4 Schizophrenia & Psya4 Media PsychologySince then I have covered other topics too with A* grade essays which include:

I created model essay answers for every possible question that could be asked to ensure I could get full marks – All I had to do was memorise them and I created a book containing all this information for each topic. I was conversing with other students at the time on www.TheStudentRoom.co.uk and once people began to find out about me achieving a final grade of A* (all self-taught while working full-time and in 1 year) I suddenly started to receive constant emails and messages asking for help. As new students began to take the exams they wanted guidance, they wanted advice and most of all they wanted my essay answers that helped me get full marks for AS and A2 Psychology to help them.

And thats what this site is for. You can purchase the Ebooks I wrote for these topics using the A* Model essay textbooks tab above as well as get my A* student handbooks for AS that have my A* model essay answers that thousands of students have used to get some amazing grades. My books are designed to give you the following:

  • My Top Banding A grade answers – The very answers got me grade A’s and A* throughout all 4 papers for AS and A2 Psychology.
  • Advice on how you structure your essays exactly with Theory & Evaluation and most importantly Issues, Debates & Approaches (IDA’s) to hit the top banding of marks.
  • How to memorise all your essays going into the exam
  • How to go in prepared using the specification to understand what you need to do.

Read the reviews from other students above and from the slider at the top; these answers are the difference between average and exceptional. You can also get lots of free aqa psychology AS and A2 revision resources here too.

Who are these books aimed at?

These books will suit all Psychology A Level students as they show you the standard that is required of you to achieve a high grade in Psychology A level. Psya1 and Psya2 can be broken into questions ranging from small to big; my AS books provide all the theory and evaluation you need to reach the top banding of marks for every single possible 8-12 mark essay based questions.

For papers 3 and 4 (A2) things begin to get really messy and hard.

Paper 3 (Psya3) is all essay based (3 essay based exam questions) and Paper 4 (Psya4) is 2/3 essay based with the last section being research methods.

The books give you my A* grade answers that I created referencing 4 different AQA Psychology books to insure every sentence was completely concise and gained marks (zero waffle). Every written sentence in all my essay answers was written after numerous redrafts to insure it hit enough marks for Theory as well as Evaluation points with Issues, Debates & Approaches included too to hit the top banding for marks.

If your strapped for time, struggling to revise, need guidance and some direction with an impending exam coming up – these will suit you perfectly.

I hope they aid you as they did me and I wish you all the best for your exams,

-Saj

  • Sonika Kudhail

    Hi Saj

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on your achievement and receiving an A* at A Level psychology. I am a psychology teacher studying in the Midlands and showed your inspirational video to my students, which they found very motivating and encouraging. My students are studying the same topics that you took, you mentioned that you had model answers for relationships, sleep and aggression. Which I cannot see on your website.

I would greatly appreciate if you could provide these model answers for my students.
They are taking the exam this summer and would like the extra support as the January exams have been removed.

P.S. I will be purchasing the aggression book.

Also it would be amazing if you could visit our school as a guest speaker for psychology.

    Kind regards,

    Sonika Kudhail

  • Saj Devshi

    Hi Sonika,
As mentioned in our email correspondence – I am currently working on the Relationships book so hopefully I will be releasing that soon. I noticed you purchased my books – as a teacher, feel free to leave feedback and a review on what you thought of them! I would be grateful for your review so it benefits other students!
    -Saj

    • Iruka

HI Saj, will the relationships book be available on amazon

      • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

        Hi Iruka,
I dont think so – Amazon have been pretty poor in providing stats and figures as well as payments for purchases so it’s unlikely I will put it there. Your better off purchasing it directly from the site here so I can track purchases but also deal with any issues myself too if you have any or questions etc. The PDF file here can also be transferred across multiple devices where as Amazons only limits you to their amazon store and kindle etc.

  • Natasha

Hi I wanted to enquire whether you will be posting unit 1 model answers. This would be really helpful as I am retaking the exam. Thanks.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Natasha,
Its something I have considered and I may do depending on interest in the current set of books. They take a considerable amount of time to write up from my notes which are written in shorthand. Were you looking specifically for all the possible essay questions on psya1?

      • natasha

Yes I looking specifically for all the possible essay questions on psya1. I was previously planning to buy a revision book for the exam but I thought it might be more useful if I spent the money instead on the model answers.

        • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Hmm. I will take a look into it Natasha. Is your exam in May/June for Psya1?

        • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

          Hey Natasha,
Just to add – It is definitely worth buying a good revision book to understand the theories – while my books give you model A* answers – you should really go into the exams having a grasp of the theories as it is very hard to recall something you dont fully understand – its like explaining something you havent fully got your head around – people tend to forget or lose their starting points or mix things up.

If you click on “TEXTBOOKS” at the top tab you can see all the best books available for AQA Psychology – I recommend the Complete Companion book – All the books on my site are fulfilled by Amazon so you can order via here and they will fulfill the order and offer their protection and guarantee etc.
Just my thoughts on it as these books then put all the information from the textbooks into concise answers for the exam itself.

Hope this helps – any more Questions feel free to post and ask!
          -Saj

As a teacher of psychology i think you are an inspiration to other students and demonstrate what good planning and hard work can achieve. I have emphasised to my students the importance of practising essay writing (in particular timed) and how planning is a key aspect of a good essay. You have produced an excellent set of model answers. My students think they are really good. They make the essays seem simple as you have broken them down into the basic areas. Congratulations on your success.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Carole!
I want to say thank you firstly for purchasing my books – I recognise your name from my buyers ( I get notifications on my phone so I recognise yours!) so wanted to say thank you firstly as I wouldn’t have created this website if it wasnt for the support of people like yourselves showing me theres a need for this.

I think the part of my success people dont realise is the hard work i put in in the background – people only see the results and believe its easy but it wasnt instant – two hours everyday, after work, before work and even during work sometimes revising and practicing my essays over and over until my hand almost fell off but most importantly until they began to stick. To get in the top banding it has to be consistent and non-stop up until the exams happen. Planning is key!

I appreciate your kind words and am glad your students have found the books useful – I feel vindicated in spending the months I did in creating them as they have served a good purpose for people so thank you so much for taking the time to post!
      -Saj

I have a nexus 7, and I was wondering is there some sort of app that I can buy to get these books???????

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Gloria!
These will work on a Nexus 7! Its simple- simply purchase them on the website and they become available as PDF files to download. You can then transfer them over using the USB cable or to make it easier email the PDF files to yourself and open them that way. The nexus 7 allows you to save the files on the device (I have one too)
You can even purchase them using the Nexus 7 and download them directly to the device that way as when you get the links for the books, clicking on them will save the books to your downloads folder.
Hope this helps, any questions let me know,

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Just looked at your YouTube video for Paper 1 and 2 revision for Psychology. Congratulations for achieving a Grade A* overall. I think you are an inspiration towards me, knowing with full potential I can do really well in my Psychology exams.

What I wanted to ask is whether you have any model answers for your 12 mark questions for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in Psychology because I really want the maximum marks out of these questions and know the best way to structure them please?

Another thing is that I wanted to ask would it be best to memorise the correct answers from the mark scheme from the papers, (i.e word for word)?

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,

I’m glad the video helped you. With hard work it is very possible to score well.
I am planning to make Psya1 and Psya2 model answers too as I still have my notes for them. I’ll likely start on them next week but it depends on how well the demand for my current books hold up- be sure to check them out for A2! They will make life so much easier.

Also as for memorising the mark-scheme , I would not recommend that as the mark scheme doesn’t actually tell you how to write your answers but gives you some pointers on what areas are credit worthy. Your meant to shape your answers around these sourcing the information from textbooks.

For the essay type questions get a good concise textbook- with papers 1 and 2 if I recall correctly the essays are easier than A2 by a long shot. Read the comments for the Youtube video there’s one I post that gives you the AS Books I used, they were concise and decent.

Any other questions feel free to ask and follow me on twitter and Facebook to keep in touch!

      Saj

      • Anuj

        Hi Saj,

        Thanks for your quick reply.

I also wanted to ask, would it be a good idea to go through every 12 mark question that there is available in Paper 1 & 2?

In addition to this, on average how many studies would you think are the best to learn for a topic and how many evaluation points?

        Thanks,

        Anuj

        • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

          Hi Anuj,

I would recommend going in knowing model essays for the possible questions yes most definitely. I managed both papers in about 3 months but that was under a heavy time pressure as I signed up for the exams paying £160 for both exams and then working like a mad man to ensure it didn’t go to waste.

I would say 3 studies to be safe – use my acronym method to memorise the essays, this is explained in my books a bit better but that requires some effort too but its easier than going in blank. Explaining those 3 studies and evaluating them would score you 6 easily and the other 6 is for a good explained theory/outline.

Its been a while since I checked my notes etc and this is from the top of my head.

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Thanks for your super quick replies.

Usually, how much is the book with the acroynm method in?

Would it be possible to give me a sample of what you mean by this please, if not do not worry I will buy the book? It’s just to assure myself whether it would be easier for me to understand and whether it is worthing buying the book, which I am sure it is but just to see if it is to my taste.

    Thanks,

    Anuj

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I just wanted to ask where abouts do I get the book with the acronym about the studies in please?

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Annuj,

I’ll email you some spreads on this method for free its fine, I’m at work and finish after 10pm so will email you after this. The books are worth it but the value is mainly in the essays so I don’t want you to spend money on them only for a small part of them.

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Just read through your acronym method and thought it was a very clever way, but just was a bit confused on how I could use this for Papers 1 and 2 because you have separate studies and evaluations with them.

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,
Sorry what do you mean separate studies and evaluation? The idea is that recalling a study will help you recall the evaluation points that go with it too.

For example if you recall a study that is based on correlation data you should instinctively then write we cannot assume cause and effect because it is correlational and hidden confounding variables may lay in between affecting results. Perhaps the sample size was also small limiting generalisation too, perhaps if its a lab study it lacks ecological validity also etc etc. Its to help keep you on track but you will need to remember to expand and evaluate the studies.

It makes more sense when you create your essays and then try create acronyms for them and memorise them, after practice it clicks bit better.

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Thanks once again for your reply.

What I mean is that if you have a lot of studies and have to evaluate each one, how is the best way to do this?

Also, you know for the research evidence related to the Multi Store Model of memory do I need to know a study for each memory for capacity, duration and encoding?

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Evaluation is based on the strengths and weaknesses of the study and what implications that has for the theory.

Take the example previously for correlations research-  if a study finds a correlation it proposes theirs a link between two variables which should support the theory however you then turn this into a weakness because their may be a confounding variable in between and affecting the results hence correllational research can’t help you ascertain cause and effect for certain but merely a relationship.

Also NO you don’t need to recall studies for each element of the memory model because the studies will merely support the explanation or go against it. If research finds the results go against the theory in which case its a weakness, if it shows the theory has credibility in some form its a strength. You then evaluate the studies themselves and why the study may be bias, lack validity externally or internally, lack reliability so if repeated results may differ (happens a lot with questionaires)

You may have a study that supports one part of the model but not other parts which is fine too- you then highlight this difference and write this suggests the theory is reductionist and incomplete etc because only part of it appears to hold true. Evaluation is generally evaluating the research studies but also then how this impacts the theory itself too.

Does that make more sense maybe?

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Thank you for your email regarding my previous question. I really appreciate you sending me those links to those books, they look really good. I also think that the book I have got is over complicated and I have decided to instead buying other books because it is a bit late for me now, just pick the stuff I need from my current book, carefully.

I also wanted to ask that in the specification it does not say anything about the Serial Position Effect and the Primacy and Recency effect. I wanted to ask would if I need to know that? Also, for the evaluation of the Multi store model and Working Memory Model, how many strengths and weaknesses should I actually do?

Lastly, I memorise nearly word for word from the text book that I have got, but the problem is that when my teacher marks some of the questions that I do where I put the answer from the book, it does not give me full marks, I get a bit confused by this. What is the best way for dealing with this?

Thank you so much once again. I understand that you have work to carry on with and being busy with everything else.

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,
I’m just at work at the moment so I’ll email you tomorrow with a response,
      Saj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,

I cannot remember the Psya1 and Psya2 spec from memory but to check what you need to know exactly I would go to the AQA website and spend some time reading the specification as it will outline exactly what you need to know. Serial Position Effect and the Primacy and Recency effect – I dont remember what they are or whether they were in the spec – you will have to forgive me as I sat psya1 and psya2 in May 2011 which is almost 3 years ago now – But if you check the spec it will tell you – I dont think you do from memory but your best to double check.

For the 12 marker question I would suggest you know at least 3 studies which you then evaluate for strengths and weaknesses. You can only score 6 marks for evaluation so evaluating each one should easily get you 2 marks each per study.

As for why your essays may not be scoring full marks – you need to pick out the key elements from the textbook that actually tell you something about the theories or some evaluative commentary. The textbooks will have lots of irrelevant stuff too and pointless sentences and you need to pick out the key points and put them into essay form – That is exactly why my books do so well; because it saves students from doing that collating all the key theory points and key evaluative points too.

      Hope this helps,

      -Saj

      Hi Anuj,
Your most welcome. Apologies for some delayed responses – I’m working on my AS model essays currently which im hoping to finish in the coming weeks so they may prove more useful for you in your essay based elements. They will involve essays for all the possible questions that can be asked so all bases will be covered. I can let you know when they are released if you wish? I will be releasing Psya1 first before working on my Psya2 notes.
      -Saj

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

No worries about the delayed responses.

Yeh that would be brilliant if you could let me know when your essays come out for Psya1 please. Thank you.

I also wanted to ask whether you have done an A Level in Sociology by any chance, or know someone who is really good at it?

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,
I dont know anyone im afraid although I am possibly considering learning that subject next sometime in the future once more time is available to me as another one of my projects. I think I can ace that too based on my experiences with AQA Psychology – I imagine sociology is probably easier once you get your head around psychology as I have heard it is easier. It’s either that or Economics next for me once time permits!
      ;)
I will email you once my Psya1 book is out! Hopefully in a week or two I think.

      -Saj

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

    Thanks for that.

Sociology is great as I do that and Psychology, as well as Photography for my A – Levels. Depending on what specification that you do, Sociology overall is brillaint to learn as it is the study of society. It is much easier doing Sociology and definately goes hand in hand with Psychology. I think you should pick it once you have time. It is a great subject to do. In your first unit in Sociology there is a 52 marker to do. There are four questions, an 8 marker, 16 marker, 24 marker and 52 marker.

Even though I am a A grade student is Sociology as well as my other subjects, I wanted some help with constructing some of my other essays as I am trying to conquer it.

    Thanks anyway for your help:)

Anuj (P.s – let me know if you want any more advice on Sociology)

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Il definitely keep that in mind if I do choose to do it! Thanks for that! Appreciated!
I think I have a knack for essay writing so my psychology knowledge may prove useful :)
All the best anuj, Well speak more in the future I’m sure,
      :)

  • http://www.loopa.co.uk/ anon

    hello saj

is it possible to get a strong A from now till the a2 psychology exams with your books?

how many hours do you recommend me to revise to achieve that grade

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi!
Yes it is very possible. I got two A’s with 6 weeks of revision for Psya1 and 6 weeks of revision with psya2.

Psya3 + Psya4 is harder yes but thats where my books come in as they cut out literally weeks of work you would spend formulating essays first.

The books aim for the high-end and A* grades but your grade will be dependant on the amount of effort you put into revision, how well you understand the concepts, your own learning styles etc – but it is very possible to achieve an A grade and my books make it much easier and save time in formulating your essays.

As for the amount of hours I recommend – if your serious about getting an A grade – I would put in at least 2 hours per day – thats very easily possible. You will ultimately be practicing your essays from now and until the exams but if you start from the textbooks you will need to source the theory/evaluation and then formulate every possible question into an essay – thats why I made these books – to save students time and weeks of revision.

Any questions do ask – I will try help,

      -Saj

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Apologies for the late reply to say thanks for letting me know about your AS Psychology 1 revision book – much appreciated. I will have a look at the samples available and hopefully will buy it.

I wanted to ask you a question regarding PSYA2 Paper. What I wanted to ask is whether I need to know about the Biological model, Genetics, studying genetic influences, the biological environment, neurotransmitters and brain abnormalities in the Biological Approach to Explaining Psychopathology? I wanted to know whether I need to know all of those topics within it and if so in how much detail? By the way this is in Individual differences – Abnormality.

    Thanks so much!:)

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,
I will need to dig out my notes to answer your question and I cant recall fully from the top of my head and need them to jog my memory (plus its past midnight now so im pretty sleepy!). I would recommend you check out the Psya2 book when its out as it will likely answer this within it – I plan to start it this friday and it will likely take me a few weeks to transfer my notes across and tweak them into this new book.
I hope that helps, apologies I cant answer it further until I see what I have written on my notes.
      -Saj

  • Anuj

    Hi Saj,

Thanks for your reply. No worries about the question. I will wait till you publish the second book.

I wanted to ask how do I buy the current AS book and how much is it? Also how can you pay for the book?

    Thanks,

    Anuj

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anuj,

Simply click on the tab at the top that says A* model essays and add the book to your cart and then click on checkout. It will ask you to create an account and pay via PayPal. If you don’t have a paypal account it also accepts bank cards too which you simply put your details into. Once paid a download link for the book becomes available at the end. You can view this anytime by clicking on “My orders” and logging into your account.

      Hope this helps!

    Hi Saj,

Do you have any tips on how I can improve on remembering information from the textbooks and from my exam answers as well? I’d appreciate it.

      Hey Josh!
Apologies for the late reply your comment got flagged incorrectly as spam and had to wade through a bunch to double check them all when I spotted it.

The best way to revise and remember the information is pretty much the acronym method and practising your essays from memory. Do a paragraph at a time and then try do all of it together.

Eventually it does click but takes a few days per essay usually.

Check out my videos too, they will help.

  • Nastaran

Oh wait I just read ur comment that I can view t anytime by clicking my orders and going onto my account. Let me try! Thanks!

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Nastaran!
I sent you an email – thats right – if you login to your account and just go to “purchase history” under the accounts tab you will see all your previous orders. It will let you redownload your books and they are saved there.

      -Saj

  • Silviya

Hi, I purchased the model answers for aggression and unit1 but will they be sent to me by post or can I access them online?

    Thank you.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Sylviya!
I hope your well! – The books are online only! They are now available for download! Sometimes it takes a little while for the system to refresh but you should have now got an email that tells you to login and then simply click on “Accounts” and you should see the purchased books there.
Sometimes its instant but sometimes it takes a little while for the website to refresh the orders. I’m never too far to manually override it however if its going a little slow so not to worry :)
Any issues let me know – I will help! :)

  • Gurninder Singh Gill

Hi Saj…Really enjoying your videos and finding the information useful. I am considering to buy your books for model answers but am still undecided. Would it be possible for you to send me an example of a model answers in order for me to see whether it is the sort of thing I am looking for…PS I think that you should put an example on your website so people can see the sort of thing that they are about to buy…Thanks

  • Gerry

Do you have essays on addiction and research methods please?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Gerry,

None for addiction im afraid, all the stuff i have as of now is available on the website. I do have plans to write the other books however but fear it wont be in time for your exams.

There is a free research methods book available i made a couple weeks ago. Its available under “resources” and the sub tab “AQA Psychology Resources”.

You will see a list of stuff available there and one of the links is for a free research methods revision book.

      Hope this helps,

      Saj

  • Anna

    Thank you

      Hey Anna!
Apologies no I don’t have that topic as of yet, I plan to create it however for the next exam window.

  • Becca

  • Simran

Hi Saj! Just wanted to say your books are reaaaallly helpful considering my exam is in a month! Just wanted to ask, how do I access if from an iPhone? I’m being asked for a username and password but then it doesn’t log me in.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Simran,

Im glad the books are helping – did you purchase the books through my website or through itunes on an apple device by any chance?

      Saj

  • Astra

    Hi Saj,

I’ve just ordered some of your books and I’m very excited for them to arrive! Just wondering if you know any details about how long they’ll take to be delivered?

    Many thanks
    Astra

    • Astra

Actually don’t worry I’ve seen how to access then as PDFs haha thank you!

      • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

ah great! I had just sent you an email as well with the instructions to download them! Glad you found it!

  • Tami

Hi. I am an Alevel psychology student and i am doing, Sleep, Relationships, Gender, Depression and Addictive behaviour. I know you have a book for Sleep & biological rhythms, and relationships, and i have been trying to find them on amazon as i want to get it for my kindle but i can’t. Is there anyway i could get it please? Cause i would really appreciate it.Thank you.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Tami,
The other books aren’t on the Kindle i’m afraid – Amazon doesn’t provide me with any customer information so when I get queries from people – I don’t know if they are my buyers or not as I try to lend direct support to everyone on my website. Also the kindle would require me to alter the books on it completely through MS word to convert it for the kindle device and its not very user friendly to do that.

I would personally say its much better to get it from my personal website here so at least you have a direct point of contact should you have questions. The books can be used on multiple devices (phones, tablets, desktops) and not limited to one device either unlike the kindle.

      Hope this helps,

      Saj

  • Saira

    Hi Saj,

I’ve just come across this website and just wanted to say well done first of all you did amazing!
I’m aiming for an A, I got a B last year, however I’m struggling to remember the essays, my A01 is quite strong but my A02 is weaker and I just want to work on this a bit more.

Any tips on how I can easily remember an essay? I know some but there are others which are just difficult to remember.

    Thanks :)

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Saira,
I’l try write up an article on how I remembered the essays in the coming days – the people who have purchased my books get an explanation in the beginning sections on how I used acronyms to remember all my essays but I will look at writing something up for readers of the website too. If you need additional help with your essays and hitting the top bands be sure to check out my books for AS and A2 – they will definitely help also.

      Saj

  • Sadia

Hey, I’m so gutted I only came across your video now!!! My exams are just around the corner and your books would have really helped me!! But I watched the full video and found it very useful :)

I just wanted to ask… How long did it take you to memorise an essay?

    Thanks :D

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Sadia,
I would try practice 3 essays at a time per day. Then the next day add another one while doing the other 3 from previous. Then the following day add another one while doing the last 4…and I kept stacking them this way. This way I kept going over them constantly while adding the new ones too allowed me to memorise them fairly quickly.
If you’re doing A2 the books will definitely still help, especially helping you add a few extra points to whatever essays you’ve created already – You wont need to forget yours but simply add points from mine on to the end of them. Just a thought but either way – All the best for the exams :)

  • Sadia

Three a day? How did you manage that, it takes me like 45 minutes to revise one paragraph for a 24 mark essay :/

But thank you so much, youve given me an idea on how to learn each essay. X

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

I spent many hours revising them, sometimes 5-8 per day. I took time off work too to try learn them. It wasnt easy but if you give it 100% then..you cant really fail.

  • anne

hi saj. received relationships and aggression. many thanks. need eating disorders too. Do you do this too? thanks.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Anne,
Glad the books helped and you downloaded them ok.
I dont have that topic yet unfortunately. I am working on them however for next year with the aim of releasing the other topics hopefully by december. Apologies if this isn’t soon enough.

  • Lucy

Hey, first of all I just wanted to say your books are amazing and it’s a shame that I’ve only just found them with just over a week before my psya3 exam but anything helps!

I was just wondering, if we were to get a question such as ‘Outline of the role of endogenous pacemakers in the control of one or more biological rhythms’ for 24 marks, which studies would you use?
Sorry if this is a lengthy question to answer for you

    Thank you so much
    Lucy

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Lucy,
The answer to that is in my Psya3 Sleep book from pages 15-18. It uses circadian rhythms as the example it bases itself on and gives a full essay for it.

  • Rebecca

    Hi Saj,
I just wanted to say thank you! I recently bought your sleep-bio-rhythms book amongst others and it has really helped me when I was unsure about essays as I haven’t been taught much in this area :). You are basically my teacher at the moment as mine is not available during half term and the exam is practically right after half term :( Thank you so much :)

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Rebecca,
Your welcome and im glad the sleep book is helping. Be sure to tell your classmates to check out the website and my books too, you guys are my marketing team right now :)
All the best for the exams and i’m here if you have questions,
      Saj

  • Emily

    hi saj,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for dedicating all this time to helping other psychology students! I am so impressed with all your essays and the sleep and biorhythms one has helped me a lot!
I am just a bit confused as to what potential questions could come up for 24 marks in the sleep section… is it possible to get questions on circadian and ultradian rhythms each on their own and will the exo/endogenous pacemakers questions always be in reference to a biological rhythm or can that question also come up on its own?
thanks again and I’m sorry it’s such a long question!
    Emily

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Emily,
Your most welcome and im glad the website and books are helping – it means those months locked in my room writing them were not a waste.

I personally dont think ultradian or infradian rhythms can come up alone purely due to the lack of material for them. I think it can ask a question involving more than one however. I don’t think they will always be in reference to the exo/endogenous packer question as I think (correct me if im wrong) a while back there was a smaller question on circadian rhythms. I think circadian rhythms is probably the only one that could be asked alone as it has enough material for it unlike the other two. Its mainly why I’ve tried to cover all your bases because if they are in the specification they can technically come up in one form or another or mixed and matched.

I hope this helps – also if you get time please be sure to leave a review for your books under the “review” tab of the book itself on the website – it helps other students to see how well they are benefiting other psychology a level students.

All the best for the exams also,
      Saj
      :)

  • Rebecca

Hi Saj, was just wondering if you know what the specification for PSY4 means by “Conventions of reporting on psychological investigations”?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Rebecca,
not from the top of my head no – Is it to do with research methods in psya4? It was my weakest bit if i’m honest.
      Saj

      • Rebecca

Hi, just thought I’d let everyone else know (if they have the same question) that they mean how to write a report by conventions of reporting on psychological investigations…so you need to know what to include in title, abstract, introduction, method, results, discussion and conclusion and references in a psychological report :)

  • Shree

    Hey Saj.
I have my PSYA3 paper next week. Wondered if you could give me some tips on some easy IDA points which could be applied to topics of ( Gender, Agression and Eating Behaviour)

    Many Thanks
    Shree

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Shree,
Check my IDA video on youtube – thats a great way of scoring easy evaluation marks for your essays! It can be applied across all topics.
      Saj

  • Robyn

    Hi Saj,
First of all I think your videos are great! so thanks for that that’s been really helpful.
I’m slightly worried though for the exam because my teacher has taught us to write two AO1 paragraphs and then 4 AO2 paragraphs for a 24 mark essay. Should this be enough even if it’s fully detailed? Thank you :)

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi robyn,

I’m glad the videos help and appreciate your kind compliment, :)

Theres different ways of writing essays and none are set in stone. I’ve always shaped mine to keep them simple and I would say some of my success has been down to that simplicity. If you feel prepared with your teachers methods than by all means go with it – its whatever you feel comfortable with ultimately and I wouldn’t recommend changing now if your use to your teachers methods. Provided your two paragraphs are detailed, don’t repeat any points and explain in good depth that should be fine. I always viewed myself as scoring 1 mark every time I made a “new” point in my theory – so as long as I kept adding “new points” with every sentence expanding on what I was writing I felt confident it was leading to marks. Just ensure not to have anything repeated in the theory element and have good depth. If you haven’t already be sure to check out my books too – they will help on that front for your respective topics.
      Saj

  • Abigail

hi, do we have to learn both social psychological explanations of aggression e.g social learning theory and deindividuation or only one of them

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

They could be asked as individual questions so I wouldn’t personally recommend learning just one. For example an individual question on institutional aggression has come up in the past albeit it was a small one.

  • Warden

Hi I just wanted to know if this is for Psychology AQA(A) or AQA(B). I am doing AQA(B) thats why.

    Thanks in advance!

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Warden,
This is primarily aimed at AQA (A) however some aspects do cross over to AQA (B). For example my schizophrenia book follows the specification for AQA (B) for one of the topics I believe and I’ve had students purchase that for it. Also the two AS books have cross over too for the AS exams for AQA (B).

  • Anu Sandhu

    Hey Saj!

Have you got any predicitions for tomorrow’s unit 3 exam for Aggression, Eating and Relationship

    Anu

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Anu,
Yes they are already up – If you use the search bar on the right at the top and type the topic names they should come up.

  • Kirsty

    Hi,
I was wandering how long delivery generally takes as i would like to order for my exam wednesday the 11th?
    Thanks kirsty

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Delivery is instant Kirsty! They are ebooks and become available straight after purchase under the “My Account” screen so no waiting times! :)

  • Simran

    Hi Saj

I have just had a massive panic attack, i cant even remember what the aggression question was but everyone seems to be saying it was outline and evaluate ONE social psychological theory. I wrote about institutional aggression and i think im going to have a breakdown. I was wrong wasnt i?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

I think the ones they are after is SLT and Deindividuation however looking at the textbook (The complete companion) Institutional aggression comes under the social psychological explanations for aggression – So it depends how generous AQA are feeling if enough people have chosen it – It may still score well as the textbooks are not exactly clear on this.

  • Simran

Sorry just another question, i was lookign at the examiners report for june 2012 when a similar question was asked and this is what they said?
“Some weaker responses appeared to be pre-prepared answers on institutional aggression,
which earned marks when factors were explicitly presented as social psychological”

In dummy terms what do they mean by “explicitly presented as social psychological”
i.e what would i have to mention?

    Sorry and thank you

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Simran,
I assume they are possibly referring to the deprivation and importation models to explain institutional aggression. Those two are still psychological explanations and I suppose the students used them to explain how aggression occurred generally (through importing traits or through being deprived them in some form in normal life).
Its why students will likely struggle to score well with those essay answers – because that doesnt explain aggression properly but rather within a specific context (inside institutions)

  • Amal

Hi, I am just about to purchase your schizophrenia book, and from the reviews and videos it seems really good. But I just wanted to ask if it was possible not to send the book to my home because I only need an online version? Thanks.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Hi Amal – the book is online/downloadable only, its not a physical book. It becomes available for download straight after checkout :) just follow the process and it will redirect you to download the book :)

      • Amal

Hi again, but it is asking for address, city and postcode? So I am a bit confused? Thanks.

        • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

          Hi Amal,
The reason for that is explained in my FAQ section under “My Accounts”.

Its used mainly for Identification purposes if anyone has queries or questions later and I need to identify them for whatever reason, thats all. It also helps me know who my buyers are, the area they are from etc and see how far my books are reaching. Theres no other agenda behind it and that information is kept strictly private and stored on my website only – its not given to anyone.

  • Sadia

Hi Saj, for the psychological explanations of schizophrenia do we learn both behavioural and cognitive explanations or just one?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Both Sadia – You can be asked a question that says “discuss explanationS <– The S at the end means its a plural and you need to explain two (2) explanations.

If it asks for ONE OR MORE – I generally stick to one but in greater detail using my model essays. If it asks for explanationS then you MUST do two.

  • Simran

    Hi Saj,

I had a question about biological treatments for schizophrenia, could they ask us explicitly about a specific type of drug. For example conventional or atypical

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Hi Simran – I don’t think so no.

  • Maria

    Hi Saj –
I was looking at your model answers to buy, and you couldn’t find one for addiction PSYA4? I was wondering if you had any, or if you were planning to upload some?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Hey – I haven’t released that book yet, I plan to later this year for next year however. Apologies its not sooner!

      • Maria

        Oh no!
I’ve bought your schizophrenia book and it’s so useful. Do you have any tips regarding the addiction unit?

  • Rebecca

Hi, do we need to know Beck’s theory for depression?

  • http://YouTube.com/eliminator09 Fahmi

Yo Saj, you see your A* Model answers for Media Psych & Relationships, are they currently still in harmony and congruence with the up to date Psychology Spec, for examinations in June 2015? Many thanks.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Fahmi,
Yes all of them are up to date for 2015 exams – my only book that needs a slight alteration is my Psya4 Schizophrenia book – One sentence in there needs changing only as the diagnostic tool for the disorder has changed. But its 99% fine except that sentence – I’ll update that soon once I finish writing my current books.

  • Kate

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! AFTER CONSISTENTLY GETTING E GRADES AND U GRADES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IN PSYCHOLOGY MY FRIEND RECOMMENDED YOUR BOOKS TO REVISE FROM AND GUESS WHAT I GOT!! IN PSAY3 I GOT AN A WITH TWO UMS OFF AN A*!!! THANKS SO MUCH

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

Your welcome Kate! Glad to hear the books made a difference :)
I would love to get a picture testimonial if you get a chance? Just holding a sign saying “I got an A with Loopa Psychology” perhaps? It really helps to show future students how much of a difference my books are making when they see actual students who have benefitted. I would love to add it to the slider at the top with the others!
      Again – Congrats too :)
      Saj

  • Wajeeha

Hi, CONGRATULATIONS for your hard work!! I just wanted to know can I buy your books, so i have them like at home rather than downloading them as an e-book?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Wajeeha,
Thank you for your kind words firstly!
The books are all ebooks but can be printed too if you wish to have a physical copy. They can be used across multiple devices such as tablets, laptops, mobile phones even too if needed.
If you want physical copies its easy enough to print the ebooks as its a PDF file that will allow you to print the pages from it – you can also copy/paste out of the book too.
Just be sure not to share the books or upload them anywhere; its just for your own personal use to help with the exams.
I’ll be on the website too if you need help,
      Saj

  • Wajeeha

Ahh ok thankyou. How many pages on average are your books? Also, how do I go about buying the e-book copies?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

The books vary in length but are between 35-45 pages on average and cover every possible essay questions available in the exam for your chosen topic. I’ve created them based on the AQA specification and what can be asked and then created an A* grade essay for all of the possible questions. I used the same essays to get my A* and 100 ums in both A2 papers.
You can get the books from here: http://www.loopa.co.uk/shop or by clicking the tab at the top that says “Model A* Answers”.
You follow the checkout process, enter your details (the address details is just for identification) and you can purchase them through paypal using a debit or credit card or even a paypal account itself (be sure to get permission from your parents if you use their bank card!)
Once purchased you will be redirected to your “My Accounts” page where you will see links to download your purchased books.
Any problems drop me a message (my email is under the FAQ section under “My Accounts” and i’ll help you out).
      Hope this helps,
      Saj

      • Wajeeha

  • Cherry

    Hello there,
Will I still get an A if i read your book? I have a month to my exams, I am fine in paper 1 but I am rather weak in paper 2.
    Regards,
    Cherry.

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Cherry,
The books give you my essays I’ve created to help you with the 6-12 mark questions within the exam. I can’t guarantee you an A grade as thats dependant on so many factors such as how well you grasp and learn the topics and your own performance in the exams. The books have helped many students in their revision however and they are a good tool to source information from for each of the different topics if they come up as bigger questions.

    Hey Saj!
Have you got a 24-mark answer on this question ‘Discuss Issues Surrounding the Classification & Diagnosis of Schizophrenia’ in your Schizophrenia Essay Textbook?
Having read all the positive comments, I’m really looking forward to purchase a few of your books.
    Thanks!

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hi Iqra
Yes the Schizo ebook covers all the possible questions for Schizophrenia including that one. If you watch the video for the Schizophrenia ebook you will see I show you all the essays in it which includes that one.
      Hope this helps,

  • Sylvia

Hi, please tell me you do AQA Psychology B!! I need help on forensic psychology

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

I dont im afraid Sylvia! Maybe in the future I will move onto covering this too if it helps but at the moment I’m focusing on AQA A. My books do cover some elements of AQA B too however if you check the specification.

  • Fabian

Hi Saj, I really need help on psya1 and psya2 but I am very lazy, whats the best advice you can give me?

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Fabian,
For AS my best advice would be to practice the possible 12 mark essays while doing the last 4-5 years worth of past papers. Thats the brief of what I did for AS and it worked for me! Its in my first AS video explaining it all too.

  • Felicity

Hi Saj. I’ve just purchased your ebook Psya1, it looks great so far! but my teacher has told us that on Monday we will be doing an in class essay on “Outline and Evaluate research into the effect of anxiety on EWT” but I can’t see this question in your ebook. How is writing about the research different to “Outline and evaluate the effect of anxiety on EWT?” Do I just elaborate more on the research procedure? In that case, what should I write about for my AO2? Please get back to me! :)

    • http://www.loopa.co.uk Saj Devshi

      Hey Felicity,
Glad the book is useful! :)
That study is there (page 13).

To answer your question: When it says “outline and evaluate” – You simply have to outline the research studies conducted on EWT and anxiety for the theory section but dont make statements like “This supports x” – This would then turn an outlined study into AO2 so the wording is very important in distinguishing AO1 and AO2.
If you click on “resources” theres an article I wrote about it explaining the difference between AO1/AO2 and AO3 which helps you understand this a little better.

HI, I brought one of your books last year but didn’t get a chance to fully read/use it. But as I’m on a gap year this year I am trying very hard to achieve a high mark in PSYA4 and the two AS ones. My question if you don’t mind helping me out is: how do you write an evaluate essay only e.g evaluate biological therapies of depression. I think I can do the other questions fine and have included lots of AO1 and then enough AO2. just stuck in case they ask an A02 ONLY ONE.
    Thank – you!

      Hi Priya,
IF they ask you to evaluate only in any question it is exactly the same evaluation points you would use if they asked a question asking you to outline and evaluate – You simply only write the ao2/ao3 element of it. I’m actually working on the Depression book for Psya4 which should be out this month covering all the essays. You could use the evaluative points from there to help you if you wish. I will post on my facebook page here when its released so be sure to LIKE it so you can get notified of when that is!: http://www.facebook.com/aqapsychology

I have a question about your revision guides. My as a level topics are: Memory, Early social development (attachment), research methods, Stress, Social influences and Abnormality. Do you have revisions guides to cover these topics? I think i found memory and attachment? I want to make sure i get the right ones:)
